WORLD IN A LENS

 

Era Natale 2013, giravo per Roma in cerca di uno scatto natalizio nella cornice Romana, e mi cimentavo con questa piccola lente acquistata qualche giorno prima su internet per scattare con il mio telefono. Affamato mi fermo a mangiare qualcosa e approfitto della pausa per pulire la lente dalla polvere, una volta pulita la metto controluce per controllare il tutto e dentro la lente compare il colosseo in miniatura, eccolo, lo scatto. Ho preso il mio iphone e ho cercato la migliore inquadratura per  scattare in modo che tutto il colosseo fosse raffigurato dentro la lente e lo sfondo fosse sfocato con lo stesso. Quello fu il primo scatto, che ha dato vita al progetto. Ho proseguito a scattare un po per Roma, un po nelle città dove giravo ed ho iniziato a collezionare fotografie nella lente, univo la mia passione fotografica a questo “gioco” nella lente. Dopo qualche mese e qualche pubblicazione del progetto su giornali importanti, la prima fu Repubblica, ho deciso che questo gioco poteva diventare qualcosa di utile, di importante e divertente allo stesso tempo, creare il primo progetto fotografico chiamato World in a lens e dedicare questo tempo e scatti al mondo social per la sua diffusione ed al mondo sociale per il suo scopo. World in a lens vuole essere il primo libro al mondo a disposizione delle ONLUS che vogliono usarlo per raccogliere fondi in maniera diversa e artistica, facendo conoscere le  bellezze del nostro pianete attraverso una lente che le racchiude al suo interno, da piccolo adoravo le  città in miniatura dentro la palla di neve, ed oggi racchiudo i monumenti dentro la lente.

It was Christmas 2013, I was in Rome in search of a shot representing the spirit of the festive season, and I was

trying to take pictures with my phone using a small lens purchased online a few days before. I was hungry, I stopped by to eat something and took advantage of the break to clean the lens from dust. I had this small lens between my fingers when I realized that it was perfectly framing the coliseum in miniature. I took my phone and tried to take the best shot so that the whole coliseum was clearly depicted in the lens and the background was blurry, out of focus. That was the kickoff shot, and the project began. I went on taking pictures in all the places I visited and started collecting images in the lens, combining my passion for photography with this lens "game". As a child I loved the snow globes souvenirs from cities and countries around the world, now I enclose the monuments inside my lens. After a few months, I realized that my project was raising media attention so I decided that this game could become something useful, important and entertaining at the same time. I collected all the pictures and published them on my website and Facebook page with a tagline from Wikipedia. Then I asked to my FB followers to take pictures through a lens and share them with me...and they did it so enthusiastically! My aim is to collect picture from all over the world. All the picture of World in a Lens will be then collected in a book: it’ll be the first book in the world available to any NGO who wants to use it to raise money in a different and artistic way.
